There are some people that you randomly meet, yet you end up having such a profound, engaging conversation. Ever had that happen to you?
SugerCoatIt is one sassy gal and you know, I can count with one hand the number of times I’ve met her IRL.
But she never fails to leave a lasting impression.
So the last blog post I read of hers was even more kick arse than normal. She spoke of goals and achieving them. And yeah, she will be the first to tell you she was gloating just a little but she also gave away her secret to success.
Her post cut right to me because I am horrendous at setting them for myself.
I need a push. I need a major shove. Like I’ve mentioned in the past – I need people who will nag me to get shizz done.
But literally half an hour I read Melissa’s post, I mentally kicked myself and said, “Okay, Grace. No more excuses”
I clicked on a few running sites – signed up to a running group that B has been relentlessly on my case about. (Thank you, B for not giving up on me).
Then on a whim (because sometimes that’s what it takes to do these things you keep holding off), I clicked on over to the Australian Running Festival website.
Like pacing up a high rise diving board and waiting to pluck the courage to plunge, I stalled. I had a peek at the course.
Having grown up
in Canberra, I was familiar with where the map would take me. Actually, at 42 kms , where didn’t it take me?
After a couple of text messages with B, I jumped off that diving board.
So. Hopefully, or as the Muslims say, “Inshallah”, you’re looking at a soon to be (April) Marathoner. I’ve always wanted to call myself a marathoner.
How cool I’ll be earning the title in my own hometown.
I’m shizz scared! I’m also excited! It’s going be a long arduous journey.
But look what one inspiring post got me to do?
I now have a deadline. And I’m going to stick to it, damn it.
Thanks, Melissa.
Do you set yourself deadlines? How good are you at keeping them?
