So here it is folks, 2012 in a nicely rounded up FYBFpost. Just need the red ribbon around it and send it off to the past!
January: After the sudden defunct of my previous blog, With Some Grace was launched on the twinlets’ 2nd birthday. Oh happy day!
Being on a bloggy hiatus for the month prior, it was nice to read all the lovely comments of welcome on that very first post. Nothing like warm fuzzies from knowing people had actually missed me. Naw…
February: The twinlets started daycare! That very first day, I sat in the car and cried a fountain for approximately 15 minutes. Then, wiping my tears, I drove to the mall to cheer myself up with some retail therapy. Easy cure for a Mama’s Seperation Anxiety.
March: DPCON12 or bust, baby!! 200 or so “mothers and parents who blog” gathered in Melbourne for 2 full days of seminars, workshops and helluva lotta drinking, um, I mean catching up!
Brenda Gaddi was a machine on rocket fuel making sure the entire event ran smoothly. And I should know. She was my roomie.
A huge emotional high when I caught up with Deb, Kate and Lee.
April: Sometimes we do certain things, not truly understanding our intentions. But we just know in our hearts, if we don’t at least try and experience, we’re not following our intuition. Or something New Age-ish like that.
Picking up a random flyer from the local butcher, I went along to a meditation course. While it wasn’t life changing, it certainly made an impact on how to approach life with a little less stress and mental clutter.
May: When Brenda asked me to take over FYBF from Glowless, I was reluctant. How was I going to fill such big rockstar boots? So, I decided to wear Princess Leia Buns instead. I still have them. They’re due for another appearance, yes?
Oh, and the phenomenal Prince concert. I can now die a happy 80’s tragic.
June: FYBF welcomed its very first Featured Flogger – Carmen from Musings n’ Mayhem!
And remember my Rocky Balboa moment when I froze my tatas off? Yeah, you do…
July: Blogopolis was another bloggers conference and back in Sydney. Met Catherine, Rachel, Lisa, Kylie, Melissa and many more crazy gals for the first time. Woot! I think Veronica‘s forgiven me for stealing her glass of wine…ahem.
August: Tackling my 3rd City2Surf in a row, I crashed and burned, stuffing up my PBT. But the disappointment was short-lived when I caught up with one of my favourite bloggers, Trish.
We both ran for Team World Vision and met up at the finishing line for a long catchup chat. You’re an inspiration, Trish!!!
September: We launched our very first FYBF Instagram party! ‘nuff said!
October: Problogger. My third bloggers conference for the year and I found myself back in beautiful, yet cold Melbourne.
Chris Guillebeau was one of the main speakers who captivated me. He reminded me that the success of a blog is not in its stats but its community. Concentrate on your content and what you have to offer to your readers and everything else will fall into place.
Got to put on fancy mo’s with some cool chicks like Melbourne Mum and Martine.
November: Ah, Bali! Full of adventure and moments of perspective.
There was sun, stifling heat, lots of pool time and a lost wallet, even.
But the orphanage visit, the smiling faces of the children who have been abandoned, will forever be embedded in my memory banks.
It’s a mystery as to who decides what lot we’re born into.
December: I’m gonna cheat a little here and mention the FYBF Christmas party (even though it was held on the 30th of November).
#FYBFXmasparty collected 62 photos and a whole bunch of nutty bloggers (yes, I’m talking to you, Kelly, Tracey and Vanessa! )
And there were even some sexy Panda Eyes, courtesy of Jess. Grrrrooowwwl!
Phew! Another fully-charged, crazy year (almost) done and dusted!
Whatcha got for me?
1. Follow With Some Grace.
2. Sign up to the awesome Digital Parents community ( if you haven’t already done so). DP was created by Brenda Gaddi who happens to be the creator of FYBF. She’s also created 4 gorgeous kidlets. In case you’d like to know. Or maybe not. But we’ll share that info just the same.
3. Add your post URL to the linky. Please only link up one post.
4. Grab the funky FYBF button and post it on your sidebar. Help spread the blogfloggin love.
5. Visit the blogs of your fellow FYBF’ers and share the comment love.
6. Share some more comment love. It’s proven to make your wrinkles disappear…overnight. #truth
Think I’m going to enjoy these year in review posts! You’ve certainly had a busy one! I stayed up until about 1am and got mine together as promised 🙂

Enjoyed reading your 2012 roundup post Grace. I’ve had plans to write the “best playground posts of 2012′ and “best recipes of 2012′ posts but haven’t done any of it and it’s not looking likely now. This always happens, the twinnies have been on school holidays since Dec 4th and NOTHING gets done!
Never mind, we have been on a wee adventure, always a good thing. Hope you really enjoy Xmas and New Year with the kids and that your surfer gets to catch some waves.

Loved reading your year Grace. I don’t recall if the force was strong with Princess Leia, but it certainly is with you. Brenda/Obi-Wan Kenobi chose the FYBF guardian very well.
Your line “It’s a mystery as to who decides what lot we’re born into” really stood out. It’s something I think about a lot. We should never be too smug or too possessive of our country, we just got LUCKY.
Thank you for being such an important person in my first year of blogging. You’re a wonderful woman and I’m so glad I met you. xxxxx

Great reacap Grace, I went to write mine but realised that 2012 felt like being stuck in a plane circling Heathrow in winter – a dark and gloomy holding pattern with a little light shining on occasion and figured it was probably better not to put it out there. Hoping 2013 will be a much more colourful year.
Thanks for being such a great host, wishing you & family all the best for Xmas & New Years.
