Surf’s Up, Dude…

March 28, 2012 By: mamagrace7125 Comments

Bondi Icebergs has a 100 year plus history which stems from strict membership criteria.  The pool is open to the public, but to be part of this exclusive club, you are required to swim every 3rd Sunday between the months of May to September.  Yes, the dead of winter…

Last Friday, the pool was partially closed due to gigantic waves rolling in from the ocean.  It was breathtaking.  Swimming in it was a different story.  Getting swished and swirled around like a dirty sock in a washing machine was an experience.  At times, it was a little scary to only be able to see whitewash.

But hey, I ain’t gonna be one of those crazies freezing my buns off.

Those waves are damn scary! No way would i get in..but it sure looks amazing. Love the idea of swimming in a pool with sea water – so good for the skin. But on a calmer day 🙂
Cant believe they swim in winter!

The views are pretty spectacular. You walk in from the top, look down and see the sparkling water and go…”Ah, I just want to get in there…STAT !” 🙂

Brrrrr. I often find it too cold to swim (dip a foot in) in the ocean in the summer, let alone the winter. Amazing pics!

I took part in a biathlon once for the swimming leg in the open sea.. didn’t like it much but I wouldn’t mind being in a pool with the waves splashing over!

I’m just so not a beach person. I think I maybe used to be when I was younger but it doesn’t help having a hubby who prefers to avoid the outdoors; unlike your surfer dude hubby.

You see, I think I was the opposite. My Asian mother hated me going out in the sun – at the beach or at the pool. She didn’t like me getting any darker. But I always loved the water. So, I think it turned out well that I married Mr Surfer 🙂
