Some days you’re a pigeon

September 10, 2014 By: mamagrace7117 Comments

or a seagull…

And somedays you’re a statue…or a lamp post.

Somedays you're a pigeon 3

One of the hardest things I’m coming to terms with as a mum is that I’m never going to be on top of things all the time.

We kick some goals – kids are healthy, happy, eating and sleeping well.  Finally, the chaos is over and some normalcy will set in.

Somedays you're a pigeon 2

Then, the next day, all goes to pot again.  We wonder where it all went balls up and how the hell the dirty laundry get to reach the ceiling.

I figure, on those days I’m the statue, I might as well take it for what it is.  The laundry will eventually get done.  Maybe not now and that’s okay.

Somedays you're a pigeon 4

Surrendering makes everything so much easier to deal with.

Besides, I get to enjoy these cheeky smiles for a little longer…

Somedays you're a pigeon

What do you do on your days of being a statue?

It’s been waaaay too long but finally, I’m back to join Trish at My Little Drummer Boys for Wordless Wednesday.

So true. Normally on those days I head to the park, but lately, the rain, oh the rain. Did I mention the rain? I’ve taken to putting on Mr 4YO’s favourite dvds with the sound only and pretending they’re audiobooks. He thinks it’s awesome and he’s entertained without watching tv, but now the sun is out and we’ll head to the park x

Hey, that a clever ploy just putting the sound on like a audio story Book. I love it 🙂

Agree with Bec, your post encapsulates parenthood! It wasn’t till after I had a couple of kids that I began to realise they don’t care…even notice, mess or dust, in the long run it’s time and a happy (if dishevelled!) Mum is all they care about (love the pic of your feet on the climbing frame!) 🙂

I gave up being a complete control freak when I become a mother over 16 years ago. Some days are easier than others and I occasionally revert back to my old ways but it’s a more relaxed household when I let go.

Those lamp post days! Just gotta roll with the punches on those days, not get too worked up about what is not done and try to veg out and just be. There will be a pigeon day right around the corner, tomorrow even, if you’re lucky!

It’s just like lists. We plan to do but it overwhelms us if we don’t get “planned” things or chores done.
So the best thing is do one thing then let go.
Today in Sydney was one of those days with its endless blue sky that called out …come outside and play or look or breathe or enjoy or just look up at me, there is no end and no stress 🙂
Sometimes we just have to not do .

I love , love your post and pics Grace- so maybe I’ll take your advice and sneak into the hammock or bed for a bit.
