It’s certain that some days I’m actually running a circus rather than a household.
It really is so very hard to describe the colourful chaos that 4 year old twin boys can create.
There’s the fighting over who gets to sit next to the window in the new car. And oh! The antagonizing! The way they deliberately push each other’s buttons only the way that siblings can.
Stealing and running off with each other’s favourite toy for the sake of wanting to be chased. The inevitable tears when someone falls splat on their face from running too fast.
Then, just when I’m ready to run away to join the circus, Mr Surfer joins in with rumble, tumbles and tickles sending them to peak levels of hysteria.
You know that crucial moment after kids laugh so hard and so much that in a blink of an eye things swing completely the other way and it all turns to custard?
That.
Full on, people. It’s FULL. ON.
Same at yours? Yup. Thought so.
Over this last rainy, miserable weekend, we were fortunate to have sent to us some fun, circus themed items to keep us entertained, including a DVD copy of the “Toby’s Travelling Circus: Roll Up. Roll Up!”
With 2 little clowns of my own(and one big one) under my big top, everyone seemed to wear the clown nose with natural flair.
Already familiar with the show from ABC4Kids, the twinions were ecstatic to watch the DVD. Packed with 8 episodes, the stories and positive messages, kids can follow 7 year old Toby’s journey as the world’s youngest ringmaster and with his friends, learn how to make the impossible possible.
It’s a great watch for the twinions and just quietly, for this Mama, a nice change from all things Thomas.
To commemorate it’s release tomorrow, I’m giving away 5 DVD copies of “Toby’s Travelling Circus: Roll Up. Roll Up!” (Valued at $19.95 each)

Update 13/03: Winners of the Toby’s Travelling Circus DVD Giveaway are – Michelle, Bec, Alicia, Sarah and Amber. Congratulations!
Having a crazy dog and two little girls that like to create mess is what makes my house a circus most days. Thank goodness none of them are trapeze artists by climbing the furniture and swinging from the curtains!!

Dinner time is a circus in our house! Daddy and I feel like Lion Tamers, keeping our starving kids away from the food till it is ready

I’m the Ringmaster of the house (keeping everyone organised) while everyone else has athletic or creative talents.
I’m not entering your competition because my boys are a bit old for Toby’s Travelling Circus, but I just wanted to say I feel your pain. I DO feel I live in a circus, and most days I feel I need a whip and a chair.
(also – Hey! See you at Problogger! 🙂

Our house is a circus! A gymnast(who is also a very good hjula hooper), a funny girl(who is constantly demanding “It’s not funny!”), a clown(I do love my husband) and me, the master of ceremonies( or maybe just my home) 🙂

I think our house feels like a circus because of the constant noise (even when they are sleeping) and the coloured -what looks like confetti- but is really lego that is everywhere!

Our school was fortunate enough to have a circus performer teach “clowning” skills to all the students. It was amazing. The one thing that struck me were his 3 rules, “clowning is fun, clowning is safe and clowning is not-silly, because when you’re silly you’re out of control and that would break rule #2.” All the kids got it – it’s a miracle what common sense can accomplish.

Step right up as I introduce you to the dazzling world of the Vamvas Circus!
There’s the wonderful act of the mother, whose expertise is balancing and being a brilliant juggler; the father who is into ventriloquism (when he says something that’s usually cheeky, but blames it on someone else), Miss 9 who is awesome at trampolining and hula-hooping, Miss 6 who is the clown act and never wakes without a smile on her face, and Miss (almost) 4 who is our twirling, tumbling, plate spinning (read plate breaking) acrobat who even manages to pull our pet rabbit Magnet out of her hat on the odd occassion!! 🙂
I like this little insight into a four year old mind I keep thinking they are so much more sensible than a 3 year old but I think they like to be clowns just as much. What beautiful clowns you have! My house is like a circus because due to my fear of clowns I keep trying to hide from my very own clowns but they stand determined at the door with a little trick in their nappy or a toy hammer to knock me down and cover me in sloppy kisses.

I can’t show you the balloon animal my kids made with those things as they’re quite indecent (unwittingly of course)! Yours are damn good! Kx

What makes my house feels like a circus is all the not put away boxes, right now! It’s like walking a high wire that’s on the ground, but still needs lots of balancing practice!!
Beautiful pics of the boys Grace. They are just gorgeous.

Our cat is what makes our home feels like a circus! She climb everywhere, run up and down the stairs and make the most strange noises!

Our house is a circus, every second weekend there are 5 kids under 8, we are forever juggling toys, drinks, food, activities all to keep them all happy at once
The addition of a baby boy after two lovely ladies has made our house seem like a circus. He is a toddler now and climbs like a trapeze artist, roars like a lion and makes us laugh like a clown.
