***This is a sponsored post for Air Wick. However, all opinions are my own and I love me a nice scented candle, anyway***
If the near future ever sees you pay a visit to my humble abode, whatever you do, please ignore its pitiful, neglected state.
I am no Pinterest Queen of Domestic Interior Design.
My house is not conducive to having pretty trinkets, plush rugs or intricate ornaments.
Most have been spectacularly destroyed.
The few treasured pieces are safely kept away from twinions’ reach.
Instead, you will find sturdy heavy wooden pieces Balinese furniture and well-worn couches with ominous stains and blotches that have been hanging around since the boys first started solids.
Yup. That long ago.
I know it’s just a phase. One day, I’ll be able to buy nice furniture and curtains again. Well, I’m hoping, anyway.
With this male dominated house plagued with endearing odours of playground sweat, stinky vegemite sandwich breath and flatulence of the rotten egg kind, I rely on fragrances to keep me sane.
Like a bear feverishly collecting food for winter, I keep a stock standard supply of scented candles.
It drives my husband mad (“You’re going to burn the house down!”) but hey, he doesn’t seem to smell what I smell. Why is that?
Adding to my ever growing collection, Air Wick sent through three of their candle products:
- Multicolour Silhouette Candle in French Vanilla Romance
- Decorative Jar Candle in Cottonflower and Blue Bonnet (Fluffy Linen)
- Decorative Jar Candle in French Lavender (Unwind Time)
Scented candles can tend to be either not having enough aroma or be overbearing.
Air Wick candles all have their distinct, yet subtle aroma.
My favourite would have to be the Fluffy Linen because well, who doesn’t like to indulgently lie in clean, fresh, heavenly soft bed sheets?
Lying next to my little boy the other night, gently patting him, I was sure he was slowly drifting into slumber.
A tender moment short lived by a subtle yet obvious puff of air from his tiny perfectly rounded bottom.
“Nunu…did you just do a toot toot?”
*Cue bursts of giggles and laughter*
Some say, no matter where they’ve been, how they smell, you love your children all the same.
So tis a mum’s life of smelly boys and scented candles.

I hear you! My house has stains everywhere and it drives me batty but one day when kids are older I’ll replace. I love candles but hubby also doesn’t get it! So the smell of a freshly cut pine tree holds significance to me because it reminds me of the real Xmas tree we had as kids every year in NZ. We can’t have one over here so I miss that BUT when I was in NZ my bestie told me about a pine needle scented candle and I bought one and am yet to use it, but I can’t wait and I hope it doesn’t disappoint me!

I love the smell of fresh mint. It takes me back to summer evenings at my grandparent’s house. I hear you about the stained furniture and general state of disrepair (and the rotten egg smell too). I can not wait to have a beautiful things in my home again that won’t get wrecked. #teamIBOT

Yah. My house is like this. Totally over run by boys and all prettiness has been long destroyed. My thing is a good scented candle too especially just prior to visitors arriving. I get those smellies out and burn them to cover any track of boy scent.
The French Vanilla candle reminds me of the perform oil I used to wear as a teenager when I would have half a dozen crushes on boys and life was so free and breezy!

I love violet. It reminds me of a perfume my mother had when I was tiny, it’s a Winter wildflower I adore and it’s been a note in other fragrances I’ve fancied over the years.
Couches? After raising the stuntman and his little sister through her toddler and preschool years, after fifteen long years we now own brand new leather modulars. SOoooo happy! (Wipeable too.)

I wish I could tell you it gets better as they get older, but alas with3 boys in the house ranging from 13 to 10, I am afraid I can only tell you, that it doesn’t go away. 🙁 I also have an obsession with scented candles, in fact just about anything that smells nice, works for me. Just enough girly to keep me sane. xx

Precious home decor? Nope can’t have that when they are running around wrestling !!!
And smells….I have so shared before how smelly boys get.
Now why didn’t I think to mask that smell with Scented Candles? Delightful 🙂

Eucalyptus leaves always reminds me of camping as a child
I love the smell of the Body shop musk because I would use the wash when in hospital having my babies so each time I smell it I’m taken back to those magical weeks of becoming a new mum. 🙂

I love the smell of oranges. It reminds me of my Nan who used to make us orange cake all the time. I make it sometimes, but it never tastes or smells the same! She used to have orange zest in the cake mix and icing to make it taste and smell even more orangey (is that a word?)
The smell of almond reminds me of the antibiotic, Amoxyl. I am forever turned off.
I’m not entering.
I just wanted to say YES!

The smell of cheap air fresheners always take me back to the NILODOR used in the palliative care ward where a relative saw out his last days.
Luckily there are delicious aromas to mostly erase that one from my memory!
Anything apple related….reminds me of waiting for grans apple pie to finish cooking. I would sit infront of the oven from the moment I could smell it to it came out of the oven.
Honeysuckle is a smell I love. I used to have a scratch and sniff book when I was young, and it was my favourite page, the honeysuckle page. I do love the smell of a real christmas tree too!
