On the eve of Mother’s Day, Mr Surfer instructed me to get up early the following morning. I had to be dressed in my running gear and also pack a change of clothes. Not giving me any further details, it was all a big surprise.
Right.
8:30am on Mother’s Day, I found myself in line to register for the 5 kms Mother’s Day Classic (Welcome to Surprise Number One).
At 9:30am in freezing temperatures of 2 degrees, I started the race.
At around 10am, I finished it in 31 minutes 23 seconds, coming in at 513 in a crowd of 1,291. 75th among the other 268 in my age group. The 321st female out of the 948 participants. Not bad, yes?
Then at 11am, it was time for Surprise Number Two:
An hour and a half Thai massage…
Mr Surfer did good this year. He did real good.
How was your Mother’s Day?
Linking up with Trish over at My Drummer Boys for Wordless Wednesday. Happy Hump Day!
Wow, what a fantastic way to celebrate Mothers Day and awesome running.
I hope your week continues to be as awesome as your mothers day 🙂

Thanks, Emily! Mr Surfer is all shades of awesome 🙂
Mr Surfer did good, indeed. Mr. Mandie not so much. He offered to buy me flowers, but I declined and advised him to buy them as more of a surprise next time! I think he did such a good job on my birthday he had nothin’ left come Mothers’ Day! Congrats on completing the run!

Oh, dear! You know, one year Mr Surfer forgot my birthday!!! We didn’t speak for DAYS. He made up for it by buying me an iPad 🙂
Hope Mr Mandie does a better job next year 😉
Well done!!! you are very brave, It was freezing cold on Sunday and that wind……One day I’d like to run the Mothers Day Classic, but the kids seem to have an important sporting event on that day.

That’s so funny! Not sure how I’d have reacted, but I’m glad you liked it. Congratulations on doing so well, can’t wait to see how you do in the City2Surf (sorry, without me this year).

Well, he knows running keeps the Cranky Grace out of the limelight so I was happy to do the run. 5 kms wasn’t too bad. Maybe we can do the City2Surf together next year 😉
Sabrina!!! You are already a cool chick, but this takes you over the top! Heehee! And your mum is the cosleot! Yes, you must show us how she did that and she should totally try to sell the idea to the Frogg Togg people or sell them to all your friends whose mom’s aren’t as cool!!! It looks so professional and I bet it feels so good!Love,Payton
Hey good on you! That time is fantastic! I don’t think I could run it that quickly!

Haha! Thanks, Nat! I love my running…it keeps me happy! So, doing the Mother’s Day Classic was a great start to the day:)
Well I got breakfast in bed on Saturday morning courtesy of my 6 year old because “he couldn’t bare it anymore”. Waiting until Sunday was not an option.
Come Sunday morning I got up early to make my mum one of her favourite greek dishes that takes about 2 hours to make.
Love & stuff
