In the early hours of August 24, ’71,
When Western civilization lived through days of hippie, free love and fun,
Back in Jakarta,
A determined mother and frazzled father,
Saw their brown eyed, cocoa coloured bubba come out of the bun.
“A name, a name? What shall we call her?” they cried desperately,
The baby’s older brother jumped up and shouted with glee,
“I know! I know! Let’s call her ‘Garage’!”
A tin shed for cars?
Oh my ! You’re kidding! Seriously?
Quashed and vetoed immediately,
Just older siblings with a bout of jealousy,
What stayed and what stuck,
Was the letter ‘G’,
With meanings of blessings, favour and to receive graciously.
I’ve decided that we’re gonna play “Guess that Flogger Baby” here on FYBF.
I’m looking for 5 Floggers to send me their baby photo. In an upcoming FYBF, the rest of us have to guess who these bundle of joys are.

Update: Within less than 30 minutes of this FYBF post going live, 5 Floggers sent through their photos! So, we’ve hit quota but who knows…I might just have to do another round in the near future! Watch this space 🙂

My parents said “If she’s born with dark hair we’ll name her Aroha (it’s a maroi/polynesian name) if she’s born with blonde hair we’ll name her Lori.” I was born with dark hair, so Aroha it was, and then it all fell out and I was the blondest kid you’d ever see! Lori would have been so much easier to live with! Oh well!

I love the name Grace, I’ve told M that if we have another girl I’d like her to be Grace. Have I told you this before? Because I want her to have my name as her middle name, so she’d be Grace Kelly. Have I? Anyhoo, I will gladly (try and remember to) send you a baby photo 🙂

My sisters actually save me name was. My parents wanted to call me Deborah, but they suggested Jessica. I am foreve grateful. (of course they have all argues since that point that it was their idea, so who knows who to actually thank!)

Even though my parents had a great sense of humour, they didn’t mean to play a joke on me when they named me. Rebecca was picked by my Mum’s best friend and my middle name Robyn was after my half brother who died many years before. But you can imagine the hell I went through at school with the name Becci Robyn Bird!
