10 years later and people still can’t forget. People still take sides. People still wondering, “What if…”
Despite the fact that When the Brad, Jen and Ange scandalous triangle hit the headlines, judgment caps were promptly worn. Well, I know mine was.
“How could she steal another’s husband?”
“Homewrecking Witch!”
“I hope karma gets her good!”
Needless to say, I was #TeamJen all the way. The only thing missing was the t-shirt.
When my girlfriends dragged me out to see Maleficent, I was skeptical. Seriously. 10 years later and I still had it in for this woman who, I might add, didn’t personally hurt me in any way. Nor was it my husband she stole.
Regardless, the movie started and I sighed followed with an eye roll in cinema darkness.
“Okay. Here we go…Angelina being her usual melodramatic self…”
10 minutes in, I was sucked in with fascination.
Angelina Jolie played the perfect scorned woman. And I say that because I could relate to Maleficent. She kept me intrigued as I returned to my past breakups, remembering those confusing, heartbroken feelings of betrayal and anger.
Every dejected woman needs to be equipped with green smoke, glassy evil eyes and horns. Not just when her love’s rejected either.
Husband left empty milk bottle in the fridge?
Get some horns!
Stepped on a piece of lego?
Get some HORNS!
So yes, folks. I have turned. No t-shirt necessary but I have finally realized that taking sides is so 2004.
Angelina has surprisingly reminded me that the fury of a scorned woman is often justified. Hell better step right aside when she’s pissed.
Maleficent is just like any other. She wasn’t evil. Just misunderstood.
Have you seen Maleficent yet? When did you last wear your horns?
Are you/Were you #TeamJen or #TeamAnge?

Dare I say, I’ve always been Team Ange? I think, if all was good in his marriage, he wouldn’t look at anyone else.
We saw the movie this week, and WOW, amazing effects! I love that she always seems to poke fun at herself too, and she loves her kids a lot, by the look of it. xx

As a massive Friends fan I was on Jen’s side at the time but that was a long time ago. I’ve since found a lot of respect for Ange for her movie and humanitarian work, as well as for the courage she showed in having her breasts and ovaries removed to combat her high risk of hereditary cancer. I would like to see the movie, but I think it’s going to be on DVD for us 🙂

Looking forward to seeing it. It is always interesting when you see a story you think you ‘know’ from a different perspective. Reminds me we are all walking around not really understanding where each of us is coming from – but hopefully trying to.

I really like the sound of horns and green smoke. I need it in fact in this household of boys and men (like yours). We need to be heard don’t we??? I’m happy to go to epic lengths.
I have always been a bit unsure about Angelina. I want to be skeptical but the fact is she really does do a lot of good which I cannot dispute…. and she won the hot man in the end…?

I’ve always been a pretty huge Angelina fan so I sat squarely on the fence re the marriage break up. Now they seem so settled it’s hard to remember he was ever with someone else.

I quite like Angelina. I feel sorry for her in the sense that she is over-exposed on account of her looks and the whole Jen thing (sad that the two always seem to go hand in hand.)
Angelina wins me over on her charity work and her strong family base. They seem to be very solid as a family and I respect them for that in Hollywood. (Who cares how they came together either – it could happen to anyone. Time to forgive and forget media – boring now…!)
Not a big fan of her movies at all as I think most of her characters to date have been flops for me. I can’t say I’d be jumping for joy to see this one either but I will look out for it on DVD when the kids are watching it one day!

I really don’t know what went on with Brad and Jen. No one really knows except them. So I really didn’t take sides. I do like Angelina for the good causes she uses her fame for, and Brangelina made such a gorgeous couple. There is not much chance of me catching this movie, but I will keep it in my to do list.

Have to say I have always been #TeamJen but then again I agree that we do not necessarily know what happens in other people’s relationships – there might be something else at play? Nevertheless I have no doubt that Angeline Jolie is a fantastic actress but that doesnt necessarily make me a fan. Either way, I hope all three of them find their own happiness one way or the other especially Jen

Annie says
There was a lot of talk about Angelina stealing Brad from Jen. It takes two. How about Brad dumping his wife for another woman? Why did we all focus so much on Angelina and cast her in baddie role? Brad surely should have received equal amounts of scorn and derision for leaving his marriage, but he escaped lightly. The joys of living in the Hollywood spotlight!

No I haven’t seen Maleficent yet, I’ll probably wait for it to come to DVD. I was never on a team as I liked both Ange and Jen. I felt sad for Jen when her marriage ended, it must have been disheartening for her to see photographs of her husband frolicking on a beach somewhere in Africa with Angelina Jolie playing happy families, when she couldn’t have a family of her own.

I so haven’t seen the movie at all!!! Actually I haven’t been to the movie in like forever…but I sure need some of those horns but I am not saying what for 🙂
Great that the tide has turned, I try not to take sides when a split up goes down cause there is always three sides to every story :: her side, his side, the truth.
And then when there is another women involved maybe it was just the timing of the whole thing…maybe Jen was meant for better things than Brad?? Or maybe Brad was meant for better things? Who knows!
