Kids pick up the darnest things, don’t they? Either that or the grossest.
In his foul male habits, when Mr Surfer caught the flu a few weeks ago, he kept clearing his phlegmy cough by giving it a good hack and spitting out the car window.
You know. The classic “Whaugh!” *Roll down window* “Tchuh!”
The twinlets think it’s hilaaaarious. Much to my disgust.
Even further to my shock, they walk around imitating him.
Don’t fret. Photographic evidence is unavailable.
Not having seen the second or third one yet, we seem to be fixated by the first Madagascar movie.
In particular, that scene when Marty and gang first arrive, hide in the bushes and watch King Julien singing “I Like to Move It”
Thinking they’re actually in San Diego Zoo, Marty says: “I’m lovin’ San Diego! This place is off the chizain!”
And now, right before dozing off to sleep, my boys will adamantly tell me, “Mama, San Diego is off the chizain!!!”
Forever the curious soul that has yet to be killed by the cat, I googled this interesting phrase.
And behold, I stumbled on a brief, yet specific definition from The Urban Dictionary:
Meaning 1: off the chain
(1) (Adj.) a great deal of fun
(2) (Adj.) very attractive
Meaning 2: off the chain
Out of control, wild fun.
Meaning 3: off the chain
Da bomb, really good, delightful.
Looking high and low on the interwebz, there wasn’t much else available.
So, I’m going to call on the fabulous FYBF community to help fill the void.
Send through a short video introducing yourself and your blog and then simply tell Mama G, what you think is “off the chizain”
Remember folks, it’s all about the delivery! Say it loud! Say it proud! Say it like you mean it! Say it like you’re Marty the Zebra!
I’m going to compile all these videos together to make one awesome FYBF community vlog. Just like this one.
I’ll also track some of you down at the upcoming DP Drinks and also take videos then. Kinda like this one.
Come on, guys. It’ll be fun. A bit of FYBF cheer to chase the winter blues away!
1. Follow With Some Grace.
2. Sign up to the awesome Digital Parents community ( if you haven’t already done so). DP was created by Brenda Gaddi who happens to be the creator of FYBF. She’s also created 4 gorgeous kidlets. In case you’d like to know. Or maybe not. But we’ll share that info just the same.
3. Add your post URL to the linky. Please only link up one post.
4. Grab the funky FYBF button and post it on your sidebar. Help spread the blogfloggin love.
5. Visit the blogs of your fellow FYBF’ers and share the comment love.
6. Share some more comment love. It’s proven to make your wrinkles disappear…overnight. #truth
I will be happy to be tracked down at the drinks Grace. I don’t know if I can get my head around creating a video in the time frame (technophobe!). Plus we will have the added bonus of having a little “Dutch Courage” previously 🙂
See you then…

I’m laughing, in an early morning bleary-eyed way! Your two are so sweet. I met a couple yesterday with tiny, tiny, 9 week old twins, both parents looking shell-shocked, twin girl looking angelic. “It gets easier?’ she asked. Errrr…. sort of… It gets funnier though.
Just at this moment, my electric blanket is off the chizain.

That’s hilarious. That Man always says he ‘had a fly in his throat’ when he hocks a loogie out the window. DIS-GUS-TING. It went down much better when his dad did it with an audience of five young boys I think. My two little girls and I are a little less amused. Wowsers. Your little munchkins are so cute with their ‘I’m lovin San Diego!’ Mine run around singing ‘I like to move it, move it’. Video editing… the next frontier for this techno-moron. Looking forward to catching you at the DP drinks xx

“Off the chizain” – will have to remember that one – makes a change from the usual teen speak around here ie “YOLO” and “swag”!
Am I brave to do a video??? Will think about it!

What a hilarious idea. I love your vlogs. We had the triple whammy Madagascar set in da house over the school holidays. We have quite a collection of quotable quotes on the go now. The favourite (for some unknown reason) comes from King Julien in Mad 3 – “I’m just an emotional whoopee cushion for you to sit on”. My kids think that quote is off the chizain!

I am so not talented enough to make a video and at 38 weeks pregnant nobody needs to see me on video (you know if its true the camera adds ten pounds – ive already got quite enough pounds going on at the moment).
I love the Madagascar movies though and now I have the dam song on replay in my head! Im sure that will stay with me for a few days. You should youtube the afro circus one from number 3 my god it will drive you nuts for weeks. You cant help but sing it over and over and over.

I’ve been a real slacker with the linkies lately! And blogging in general but this made me laugh! I’ve just had the spitting convo with Ned, as in, please stop it! He and his little boy mates down at school must be going through a spitting craze because Ned is releasing saliva like a over zealous puppy.
Looking forward to drinks!
