There was an instant, intellectual, electric connection on that special Christmas morning we were introduced.
Her arrival couldn’t have been more timely.
And as I’ve been feeling blue and not my most sociable, she’s become my perfect companion.
This new BFF is low-maintenance. All she needs is a recharge once in a while and then she’s ready to go.
I’m not obliged and pressured to amuse or entertain her. In fact, she does it all for me. She never judges and is always grateful when I pick her up so we can spend time together.
Never one to say no to a coffee, we have a conjoined giggle over a private joke at my favourite café. Ignoring the puzzled looks from other customers, its nice to have a partner in wicked humour.
During Witching Hour, as the twinions test my patience and send my parental frustration into over-drive, my darling friend assures me everything’ll be alright.
Even during the madness of bathtime with the boys flooding the bathroom floor with their careless splashing and frantic water games, she manages to calm me down.
Whether on the couch or cooking in the kitchen, sitting together quietly, she keeps me company and takes the mundane away from motherhood.
The days of docile late night TV watching on the couch are firmly over. Instead, she soothes me with her stories as we snuggle in bed.
This buddy of mine has opened doors to a wider circle of friends. I’ve now met funny famous people like Tina Fey and reacquainted with fictional, familiar characters such as Bridget Jones.
She offers escapism and teaches me to laugh again.
I love her.
Do you have a Kindle? Is she not the best friend EVER???

My girls all received kindles for Xmas and love them, so does hubby. I prefer a break from the screen and to pick up an actual book. Now I just need to find more time to read, which possibly means give up screen time.
Have been thinking about you.

Sounds great, but I just can’t look at the screen for that long. I hit the library every couple of weeks for my book fix. I’ve been on a Stephen King binge lately – just finished Under the Dome, and read The Green Mile before that. Now a long overdue date with Tim Winton’s Dirt Music.

Thing is, the screen isn’t anything like a smartphone. Not harsh on the eyes AT ALL. And there’s different settings too. It really is like reading straight from a book!
Oh! And I want to read The Green Mile too!
I dont have a kindle, but have the kindle app on my ipad, so all my books and mags I can read that way. Almost the same thing. I still prefer reading a real book, but it sure saves space goi ng digital. xxN

I’ve read 4 books since Christmas Day…It used to take me months to get through a book “book”. I don’t think I’m going back to paper…
mmm, I have to admit I was beginning to feel twinges of jealousy reading this post 🙂
I don’t have a kindle but I have started reading a huge stash of e-books on my iPad (which is only a couple of months old and is one of my new BFF’s as well).

I don’t have an e-reader and I’m unsure about whether to get one. I like holding physical books, but e-readers seem to be so much more convenient. Glad it’s giving you some love!
P.S. I’m very happy to be flogging my blog again – it’s been ages!

I wish I loved reading. I’ve tried & tried & tried. My mind starts thinking about other things & by the time I’ve read 3 pages, I don’t know what the book is about. Lol I know many people that love them though. Enjoy your new bestie x

I used to be so adamant about my preference for a ‘real book’ but I have to admit my Kindle is a wonderful friend to have! I love the portability and accessibility of my library now and since I don’t need a light anymore, I can read in bed even if my husband needs to sleep, or I’m sitting by the bedside of a sick kid etc. Being a book reviewer, it is also fantastic to take notes as I go, bookmark certain pages or search for a word within the text. Love love love!

I’m still a bit iffy about e-books…I have read a few on my tablet and am not a fan of it. Prefer the real thing…the feel of paper, the smell of the book, the whole experience! But everyone keeps telling me kindle is different.

xx
I have the kindle app on my phone, iPad and laptop but I don’t own an actual e-reader. I still want one though!

I have an eReader (got it cheap with flyby points) but it was complex and I couldn’t work out how to get a book on it. My friend’s 20+ son came over and we worked it out. Just when I had it all worked out and was ready to go – it now won’t work. Aggh! I will get a Kindle next time!! xo

I ADORE my kindle. In fact, once I realised it wasn’t in my bag this morning I considered turning around and going back home for it, even though it would have made me impossibly late for work. The Rosie Project, Where’d You Go Bernadette, and so many other favourites live neatly tucked inside her skinny light cover ready for me to take wherever I go. A whole bookshelf in such a tiny package! Don’t tell my husband, but if we were ever forced to choose, I’m not entirely sure who would win… 😉

Love, love, love my Kindle! Only complaint is that sometimes I read for so long she dies in the middle of the book. And then you can hear me screaming, “Where’s a charger?!?! My book is dying!!!!”

I love any kind of book, just need some more time to read them! I actually woke up at 2.30 this morning with a sore shoulder and read for an hour, so I guess I’ll take any time I can to catch up on my reading.
I do love paper and we regularly hang out at the library, but the convenience of e-readers is fab. xx

I have kindle paperwhite Gen 1.
We have love and hate relationship.
It’s real easy to buy books. No more waiting around. Having hundreds of books at your disposal is really cool. However, when I’m given too many choices, I don’t know what to pick. I have close to 50 books on my Kindle that I’m yet to read. Another con is I can’t flip to the back of the book on Kindle to get the gist of the book when it’s time to pick a new book to read.
I prefer Kindle over printed books now. I’m so in love with the dictionary especially since English isn’t my first language, there are still some vocabulary that I’m not familiar with.
I still have this dream that one day I’ll go back to live in Asia again so having less books means less baggage to move.
Another big plus that make me prefer Kindle over printed books are the light. It’s so much easier to read on Kindle than on tablets especially when I’m reading in the dark.
I’m a Kindle convert and I can’t imagine traveling without it.
I don’t have a kindle, but everyone who I know that has one loves them.

I bought one for my Mum too and she has used it so much that she is needing a new one! I still read physical books too but when I finish reading one book I love the fact that I don’t have to get up and go aywhere to buy anew book, the bookstore is right there in my hands. LOVE my kindle!
