FYBF – The Name That Tune Edition

July 18, 2014 By: mamagrace7134 Comments

Following last week’s discussion on songs and the ones that leave powerful, emotional memories, I had this mad idea to play the guitar and sing my version of a current hit.

Mad because, I haven’t taken a guitar lesson since the 4th grade.  Even madder still because the only songs I can actually play are “Kumbaya” and “Michael Row Your Boat Ashore”

So in the better interest of not making a complete dill of myself and protecting your hearing, I’ll be parking that project for a while until I teach myself some more guitar chords (preferably the ones for the song in question) and when the tips of my fingers toughen up.  Ouchie…*big sulky pout*

Of course there’s one instrument that doesn’t hurt my fingers.  No, not that one…Ahems.

For this week’s FYBF we’re going to play a game called “Name That Tune”

FYBF Name That Tune

For your leisure and entertainment, I have specially picked 3 songs for you to guess.

Watch the vlog and guess the songs I’m playing.

Your answers have to have both the song title AND artist/band/movie it came from). Feel free to get creative in delivering your answers, ‘k? I’m a sucker for funny.

Email them to: grace@withsomegrace.com

The lucky winner will be receiving a little something’ from moi!

Good luck! And look forward to seeing your “Soundtrack of Life” posts!

Wow! You’re a talented musician. Can’t wait to hear the guitar. All three of those songs sound soooo familiar to me, especially the last. Will ask hubby when he wakes up.

Playing the guitar is WAY harder than it looks hey. My dad plays and tried to teach me basics and couldn’t get it, it’s on my to-do list..
(BTW, I’m HANGING to read your post below on bladder stuff but halfway writing mine for the same peeps and so will wait til I’ve written mine as I often find it easier to write without seeing how someone else wrote it – you know what I mean? )

You are very good, but I still have no idea. They sound like movie soundtracks. I have always longed to play guitar but cannot hold the chords down unless I cut my fingers nails short and I hate the feeling of short nails.

And musically talented as well. Is there no bounds to your talents?. I did the guitar lesson thing as a kid. I wish my mum had pushed a bit harder and not let me give up. You are lucky to have come away with two songs. I have none in my repertoire.

Hey! You can play lady!! Nice one (the tunes sound so familiar… I’m going to have to keep listening otherwise it will bug me ALL DAY) and the guitar is harder than it looks. It frustrated me when i had to teach it briefly and I found it harder to pick up the chords than I’d hoped. Hence, I have not kept playing… but good luck! You seem to have a knack for musicality by the looks of this vlog!

You are awesome on the piano – recognising the first two song – how could anyone NOT know that first one in particular at the moment given that it is so cold and all! Working on the third – will listen til I get it! I reckon with your musical talent you’ll master guitar too. I played as a kid – even had lessons from the mother of famous classical guitarist Karin Schaupp – and yet I have pretty much forgotten how to play (having never been very good). PS – did you spy the pic of your boys on my post promoting Leonie Percy’s Mother Om book – hope you don’t mind. X
