The troops are down (Mama G included). Drowning in snotty tissues (me) and dealing with tantrums caused by blocked noses (me and them), it’s gonna be a short one today.
Before the immune system completely shut down, I managed to enjoy a night with mah gurls.
Not just any regular movie date, we went all classy and shizz – glammed up in frocks and heels, greeted at the red carpet with a glass of bubbly before heading up to the comfy reclining chairs to watch the much anticipated ‘Gone Girl’.
In the giddy excitement, it took a couple of takes to figure out the little faux pas on the #selfies. Ahems.
We’re not THAT old, ‘mmmmmmkay?
24 hours later and I still have ‘Gone Girl’’s riveting plot and brilliant dialogue on replay in my brain. Maybe that’s the sparkling wine hangover talking.
Or maybe it’s because going Gold Class is the ultimate, memorable cinematic escape.
Les Misérables was my last experience. Sinking deep into the comfortable lounge chair, with the biggest bag of Salt and Vinegar chips and a crispy glass of white, it was complete immersion.
I cried and howled throughout the entire movie, with a safe distance between the blubbering mess I was and the next weepy viewer.
Walking out totally overwhelmed, it took half an hour to remember where the car was parked.
Nothing like falling into the reverie of the big screen and a bucket of popcorn.
If there’s any movie you could watch in Gold Class, what would it be? Past classics included! Have you seen “Gone Girl”? (No spoilers allowed!)

Harry Potter is Gold Class worthy. In order to splash the cash, it must be a GREAT movie for me to choose this experience. Big, blockbuster fantasy and sci-fi!

My first time here at FYBF – thank you for the opportunity to join in. Sorry to hear you’re not feeling the best. Love this Gold Class post. I’ve not had the pleasure as yet but I’m a big fan of The Sound Of Music so I’d say that would have to be my pick for a big screen, luxury night of viewing. Get well soon x
I’ve not seen Gone Girl yet but keen too, as I’ve read the book….;) As for Gold Class, something long, so I get my moneys worth….I’ve got a big Daniel Bruhl thing going on (I think I saw him filming while away – though it might have just been an actor with brown hair – don’t let me ruin it with actual facts) so I’ll say Rush…cos I love him in that, but I’ll settle for Inglorious Bastards, with the added benefit of Waltz *sigh*
Oh how good would Sound of Music be on big screen in gold class! Good call!
Feel better soon Aunty Gracie (from Roo!)
I’m just telling you to get better quickly, which means RESTING!!!
I won’t have snot ruin our girls night, you hear me?
Also, I would see Les Mis again. And again. And again. Maybe even Pitch Perfect (because good trashy fun is fun). But I’d LOVE to have a Godfather Trilogy marathon. I only watched those films in the past year and MY GOD! No wonder there was and is still so much hype!!!
I read the book and loved it so Gone girl definitely on my list to see. I could watch Love Actually over and over, (and have numerous times) so i’d be happy to see that at gold class too! Hope you are all feeling better soon xxx
I hope you are feeling better soon Grace xx I’ve also read Gone Girl and can’t wait to see it at the movies. It’s been a LONG time since I saw anything in Gold Class, I think Bridesmaids was the last movie I saw. I would love to sit back in Gold Class and watch a reality tv marathon – I’m talking Real Housewives or Keeping up with the Kardashians!
Feel better soon Mama Grace! I saw Gone Girl on Monday. LOVED it. Very, very well done and perfectly cast! Didn’t go Gold Class, though. LOVE your style. Last movie I saw Gold Class was X Men: Days of Future Past.
I’m not usually a big movie goer but this is one I really want to see. So good you could get out and enjoy yourself :). X
Feel better soon!! Nothing worse than an annoying runny nose!! My hubby and I saw Gone Girl yesterday and loved it!!! Not in Gold Class with champas mind you – that looks very fab! xx
It’s been a long time between movies, if the last one you saw is Les Mis! We average one cinema experience a year since having our baby, and those GoldClass vouchers are sitting on the fridge, teasing me as their expired date draws nearer.
Feel better soon Grace! I would watch anything in gold class, I love it. I’m gonna have to go and see Gone Girl now. I read the book and couldn’t put it down x
I hope you all get better soon 🙂 It’s no good being sick in the holidays. I don’t want to sound like a whinger but I don’t like Gold Class because I think the prices are outrageous for what you get. But then again I’m a cheapskate. Can’t wait to see Gone Girl!
Oh fancy schmancy! I can’t wait to see Gone Girl. Glad to hear it was good.
Hope you’re on the mend quickly x
Oooo fancy!! 😉 I think money is better spent in Gold Class than on a 3D ticket. It’s so comfy! I like to use it when we watch longer shows heh
Ai @ Sakura Haruka
Old class nyahahahha!!!
The cold is because you finished half a bottle of wine! 😉
I really want to see Gone Girl! I haven’t been to gold class in about, let me think… a million years. Les Miserables was definitely one worth a gold class seat I think. I remember going to see it at the movies and I have seen the stage production a few times and knew to take a huge box of tissues. I sobbed for hours because I was also pregnant and hormonal and anything set me off. Any of the Lord of the Rings movies and The final The Hobbit movie I would go see at gold class. I just wish I could see every movie I go and watch gold class! 🙂
Okay, you’ve convinced me … if it took half an hour to find your car afterwards I definitely have to see that movie … or else I definitely have to know which wine you were drinking! I wouldn’t mind settling into gold class to watch Gone with the Wind.
Went to see Gone Girl last night…loved it!
Looking forward to Gone Girl too, and how funny about the ‘old class’. Hope you’re feeling better for the long weekend.
Everybody’s raving about Gone Girl, I really want to see it now. You know I still haven’t seen any movies in gold class. It was one of the things I was looking forward to most before turning 18 and now here I am turning 30 this month and I still have never got around to it.
I love David Fincher’s movies and I’ve been really keen to see Gone Girl. Glad to hear you liked it. Must try and check it out this weekend. 🙂
I really want to see Gone Girl and I love Gold Class for movies. If I could see another movie in Gold Class it would be the Titanic. My butt hurt after watching that movie in cattle class. 🙂
I’m hearing such great things about this book/movie. Thinking I might have to get my hands on it!
PS. Get better soon love! xx
Oh Grace, having a cold in hot weather is the pits! I hope you’re all better soon.
The last movie I saw in Gold class was Gladiator. Simply because not long after that an independent cinema opened just around the corner from our house and it’s ridiculously cheap and always spotless. The seats are almost as comfy too, so we’re regulars there.
Take care and get rid of your cold quickly. Certainly no fun when a mum.
Awwww. Look at us. Looking all klarsy! Hehehe.
For once, I can say that the movie was pretty good compared to the book. I hope you and the family are feeling better.
