We bought our little home over 5 years ago. Once we signed the contract, it was all systems turbo. 3 months after the purchase, we got engaged. 5 months after that, we fell pregnant. Another 5 months later we got married. Then, barely 2 months into marital bliss we had the twins.
Phew!
And in this whirlwind of major events, we ‘ve never really had time to concentrate on the interior décor of our home.
(Really, REALLY need to do something about the tattered state of our stinky, old couches).
Our trip to Ubud last year saw us bring back some gorgeous pieces made by local artists.
Still. We can do more.
The white walls along our long hallway are crying out to be decorated with some colour and character. As well as the kitchen. Not to mention the twinions’ room.
But an interior designer or curator, I’m not.
Minted is not just a website packed with amazing designs for art prints and stationary. It’s a global community of independent designers – many of whom are stay at home mums. Running monthly design challenges, Minted also provide a creative platform for artists to expose and sell their best designs.
As one interviewed designer said, “It’s the Facebook for creative people”
I ended up spending most of yesterday’s rainy afternoon, surfing through the beautiful art prints. The more I searched, the more inspired I became. Clicking through the broad range of styles, you can then also click on the designer who created a particular print, which will send you to their other creations.
Personally, I fell in love with this one.
And there’s newborn baby photos of the twinions that I’d love to preserve in something like this:
And being a surfing household, we could get something like this customized with all of Mr Surfer’s favourite beaches – Bondi, Maroubra, Wanda, Brunswick Heads, Uluwatu…
Maybe I could be a curator after all. Huh.

* Not a deal breaker but how about giving a shout out to a new page you found ? Doesn’t cost much. Give tenfold, get hundred back, I say.

The Eiffel Tower reflection is my fav. It would be hard to put it in our house though as it is mainly various shades of white and off white with lots of colourful paintings to offset all the creaminess 🙂
Although leading up the stairs we have a gallery of black and white photo’s. If the picture was smaller we could add it to the collection (after all we have been to Paris a few times).

Definitely Paris, It would go in my teenage daughter’s room as she has a Paris and NYC theme. She’s dreaming big about growing up and travelling/living worldwide. As she should 🙂

We need to decorate more, our house is very barren now the kids are here, but it’s more for safety than any other reason, I can’t wait to get walls painted and more artwork, new carpets also, once they are bigger. Love Bali furniture and artwork! Have a great Sunday, xx

Balinese artwork is so beautiful. The Eiffel tower picture is also my favourite. We might put it in our bedroom not because we would want to hide it but because that is the only room we stay still long enough to dream. Happy Sunday Grace xx

That Eiffel Tower print is beautiful. Our bedroom has a number of drawings we bought while honeymooning in Paris and something like that would be perfect to amp up the romance in our very beige and boring room!

We followed similar paths. Bought the house over 5 years ago, was 3 months pregnant when we moved in, 6 months later, pregnant again. Then came the wedding. Where does the time go? We’ve done diddley squat to our place in that time. Need to start planning – oh after the 3rd baby is born 🙂 x
We have been in our house for just over three years and I think I’ve have been pregnant for most of the time!! I’m loving the prints over at Minted. My favourite is the Peonies in a Vase by Kelli Hall. Peonies are my favourite flowers, and they were also in my wedding bouquet. I would hang the print in my study which is my little corner of the house I can decorate in pinks and other feminine colours. It’s sure tough being the only female in the house sometimes!

There are some great pics there – I loved one on the website called “Celebration” by an artist in Hawaii. It would look great in my dining room!
By the way, turns out I already like everybody who’s joined up for FBLS so far!

You know I adore those Ubud art pieces, right?! I’ve been thinking so much about art for the new walls of our house… so your post is quite timely! I understand how long it takes to decorate, but I find the sooner you do the better you feel straight away. So many lovely things to like over at the Minted site. I think my favourite would be Some Nights (in teal) by Loree Mayer – and it would sit in my beautiful new bedroom where I could lie back and dream of those buds blossoming into a fresh little possibilities in my life. x

I’m pretty lousy at prettying up my home and hallways with pictures and art. But I think adding a bit of colour and interesting pieces here and there can make a huge difference to the look and feel of the space. I just adore that “Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails” piece. I wonder if there is a matching “Sugar and spice” piece as well. I would place it in our dining area where we have a collection of family photos, and it would be nice to have a piece featuring each child.
P.S. Just discovered your Facebook Lovin’ Sunday linkup via Sarah at Snippets and Spirits. It’s really nice to connect up with some of the other bloggers I’ve come across before. Thanks for hosting this!

Loving the “A Lifetime” print! After 11 years of marriage, husband and I still don’t have a wedding photo on the wall, in part due to our budget photography option back then. I would love to have a print made up

I love all those prints you have chosen and ideas you have! I am not sure about the Eiffel Tower/Paris pick… I absolutely love it but feel weird having something like that on my wall when I haven’t been there (the 2 hours I spent at the train station don’t count! lol..)… Have saved that website to my faves for furture reference!! Love all the Typography Prints! So had to choose!

Oooh definitely the Eiffel Tower one… this brings back lots of lovely memories of when we stayed in Paris and did the whole picnicking under the tower with champagne, baguettes and macarons! My absolute favourite place in Europe (oh actually I think it was on par with Barcelona!). xxxx

OMG Grace, I can’t believe I hadn’t found this website yet! I’ve spend all day doing work for my design course and this is just perfect!
The print I would absolutely get, and which I will get regardless of whether or not I win is this one…

It would be perfect to sit at my desk (and eventually in my office). A reminder of why I want to do what I’m doing. I am now going to lose myself over there for a while as a reward for working hard today!
