My past relationship with coffee was but tempestuous. I’m an allornuthin kinda gal and I gave coffee my complete all – 3 to 5 cups a day all.
Then, I did a nutrition course. While my lecturer didn’t deter me from my daily caffeine fix, it did come to my attention that I wasn’t just drinking the stuff in excess but mindlessly and carelessly.
You know, just drinking it as an emotional crutch to get through the day; an essential mummy survival tool.
So for almost 2 years, I turned cold turkey. (Told ya, all or nothing…).
Then this year, I visited a friend – a lover of fine culinary delights and damn good roasted coffee.
He converted me.
And I’m back again on the coffee cart.
But just like fine art, wine and food, this time there’s an appreciation for its taste and a respect to how the mix of coffee beans make that delectable cup for the morning.
Harris kindly invited me to a coffee tasting event where I learnt the different types of beans – from the strong taste of Robusta to the milder Arabica and the unique blends they make.
One of the big tips for grounded coffee is it’s best to store it in a cold, dark corner of the pantry rather than the popular belief that it needs to be in the freezer.
Even K-Bear has caught onto my special morning moment of having that cup of vitality.
Making me “ice creams” and “muffins” with his play dough one day, he grabbed an empty yellow play dough cup and said, “Mama, you want coffee??”
He then handed that little cup with a big smile and sweetly asked, “Mama, you happy now?”
Oh, yes, my sweet boy. Mama is happy. Coffee makes Mama very happy.
And with that, these days I’ll keep my coffee intake to one cup a day. Two at most with the exception of the make believe one served in a play dough cup.

I do love a coffee in the morning (and throughout the day) and am about to indulge in a latte right now. But lately I have really been enjoying a homemade smoothie in the morning – strawberry, banana and orange juice. Very satisfying, healthy and even better it means that coffee that I’m about to enjoy is at nap time so I can have it in peace and quiet!! 🙂

It has to be tea, to be precise my morning order is; tea, then another tea and then mu one savored cup of coffee at 10.30 or thereabouts!
I’m now addicted to my skim latte every morning. Some times its the only thing that motivates me to get work in the morning so I can grab one on the way. I’ve started to creep one in one some afternoons too, gives me a reward to look forward to. (Coffee candle?!?!? Sounds wonderful!)

I have to say that I have a cup of coffee, Nespresso as soon as I wake – oh hang on I lie, I have a BIG drink of water first! I can’t believe you did TWO YEARS WITHOUT IT – I haven’t gone two years without anything. This time next week I will probably be seeing your gorgeous self – WHOOP! xx

A percolated coffee with a dash of milk – it is like a cattle prod that spurs me into action and gets me moving!

Got 2 be two double shot short blacks first thing or I can’t function…as probably some of my early morning comments attest to…
Every morning with out fail i need my coffee latte (i can’t function with out it ) LOL iIf i don’t get that coffee kick each day i am like a mad lady just ask my family *snort*
I usually have a hot chocolate, but it isn’t hot at all by the time I get to drink it.
I race around every school morning as I try to get three children ready, and I never sit down to eat breakfast. The best I can manage is a piece of cold toast thrown in here and there, and the hot chocolate is usually tepid to cold by the time I have my first sip!
Just ‘cuz you asked – my morning beverage is water. Not gallons of it – but a glass or two. For the record, even my Keurig gourmet coffee doesn’t compare to the stuff my neighborhood Colombian, Mexican or Romanian bakeries brew.

I start with a glass of warm water and lemon for an ‘inside kickstart’, then a strong coffee, probably defeats the purpose of the lemon cleanse, but hey, I wouldn’t get out the door without that coffee hit and the kids may not make it to school alive!!
Why coffee is my first MUST HAVE in the morning. My Barista knows that! My coffee is ready as I pass the coffee shop on the way to work. I just grab it on the run as I am zooming by. “Ahhh, I have my coffee and all is well”.
Coffee too, but I literally would die if I didn’t have my litre of warm water. It’s something Nan got me on to from a young age, that flushes out my system and keeps me looking great.
Coffee, strong, black and without any sugar. Preferably percolated, but a nice instant will suffice on the mornings we’re rushed for time.
At the moment my must have morning beverage is instant coffee because I can’t use our whiz bang coffee machine that we have had for nearly 9 years!

With 7 children and being pregnant with number 8,I need a morning coffee to help me get through the day.(preferably that someone else has made lol) White with 2 sugars in my huge mug.
I just cannot function at all until i have, had my coffee. Then all is good the rest of the day is all smiles.
I don’t mind what form it takes or where I have to go and get it, as long as my first morning coffee is loaded with real (non-instant) caffeine!
My favourite barista is my hubby. He can work magic with our ancient but faithful espresso machine. I personally have to resort to our pod machine if I’m home alone. I can’t abide instant coffee but I’ve been known to settle for a ‘coffee bag’ in a pinch. They are fab for camping!
A skim mocha with extra chocolate and super hot! It’s the perfect kick to get my creative juices flowing early in the morning.
A cup of flat white makes my doze and worries fly away, instead, energetic and delighted for whole day.
I must have my morning coffee to be able to function! But like you I am really fussy – it has to be organic, fair trade coffee and has to be the real deal – not in a Jar!! It has to be freshly made in a coffee plunger and then a dash of cream with a dash of organic honey. If we can buy the “Bath Milk” then I add that other wise its cream!

Coffee. Just a simple mug of instant with a dash of milk will do if I’m in a rush (which is pretty much every morning), but on weekends I use the plunger and froth the milk for a more delicious experience.

I love having my coffee black, because it keeps me from hitting the sack, and in the mornings when I can’t keep my eyes open, coffee snaps me awake and into a state of zen!
I love my coffee, freshly ground every morning (fairtade a must) however i love to start my morning off with a cup of warm water, with a slice of lemon and a few drops of honey, then………….. a good strong cup of coffee.
