It’s known for it’s stuffy politicians. In winter time, locals are used to scraping the thick frost off their windscreens while shivering in sub-zero temperatures. Summers are dry and stifling. With its lack of landmarks and abundance of roundabouts, I affectionately tag it as “The Big Roundabout”.
But it’s home. My hometown. And it has always been since we migrated from Indonesia over 30 years ago.
Every time I go back, I always try and make an effort to go on my special nature walk. To remind me that despite its notoriously stagnant atmosphere, there is another side to it. One that is actually pretty. Breathtaking, even.
Linking up with Trish’s My Little Drummer Boys for the weekly collection of fabulous photos and stories.
Happy Wordless Wednesday, everyone !

I love Canberra. I’m in Melbourne, but my brother and sister in-laws and families are there. So we do tend to go there often. I love it. I’d move there, talked about it many times. Maybe one day.

I’m a Canberra Lover and I’m not ashamed of it! I spent my teen years and went to uni there. I LOVE the walk along past Old Parliament House, down past the library and around the lake – I used to walk from Griffith to ANU (longest walk ever!!) in the mornings, just because it was so beautiful!

Great photos.
I did a road trip to Canberra with my sister when my big two were my little two. We had such a great time, must get back there in the not too distant future.

I love Canberra too. Am always defending it and trying to convert people, but with limited success. So many things to love – the war memorial, art gallery, museum, the lakes, the shops, Kingston markets … And I found everywhere is pretty well heated so I’ve never actually been cold there.
We plan to return to NSW at some stage (now in WA) and I’m hoping we end up somewhere not too far from Canberra.
