I’m never going to be,
That boring, suburban housewife,
From corporate heels,
To pre-school pick ups,
In four wheel drives,
Came a domestic change in life.
Never will I be,
That mum who has television,
From 6am,
I turn it on for piece of mind,
Dang! Those boys!
Beat me to submission.
I’ll never be,
One who spends life in the kitchen,
Now I’m overjoyed,
The new oven bakes,
My sausage rolls,
They’re so bitchin’!
Never will I ever,
Sit around the house idly,
A sleepless night,
Calls for escape,
Icy Victoria Grayson,
With a strong cup of tea.
I thought I’d never be,
A mum – especially to twins,
But don’t ever say never,
Because you never know,
The love that your ‘never’,
Just might bring.
What’s been your ‘never’ ?

I wish my younger self could sit down and have a natter and a vino with my present self and cross some of those ‘never’ notions off the list! 🙂

My never (which my Hubby & I laugh at now!) was not give our children McDonalds before they were at least 4, haha. My youngest was about 12 months when she had her first McBites & chippies, now she’s addicted!

Happy birthday to your lovely boys for next Tuesday! I never thought I’d do a lot of the jobs I’ve done as an adult just to make ends meet- like paper rounds and telemarketing and babysitting and cleaning. When I was younger, I thought I’d either be a career woman with an amazing job or a full-time mum; I never contemplated that there might be something in between that wasn’t so much fun. But now I know better – there’s no shame in doing honest work, even if you’re over qualified for it! I really liked this post, Grace. I think a lot of women can identify with it 🙂

I thought I would never be a housewife / stay at home mum.
The stigma of housewives, that they are housewives because they are not smart enough or too lazy to work made me determined that I would be a career woman.
Fast forward to now, there’s nothing more that I want in this world than spending my days with my son. I enjoy every bit of it. I never thought anyone could motivate me to learn how to cook but my son did. I’m determined to establish healthy eating habits for my son. Don’t just “jajan” all the time and refuse to eat home cooked meal.
P.s. those people who think being housewife is easy work are in for a big surprise!
Glenda @ Healthy Stories says
