There once was a time centuries ago, that the kitchen was my friend.
I couldn’t think of anything more exciting than spending a day in it and cooking up a feast of curries, fried rice and other Asian cuisine dishes.
Then, twinions came along and the closest indulgence as an avid foodie was watching Masterchef while tandem breastfeeding.
Like many other families with young kids, our meals are usually bland and easy to cook so that if I go on strike, er I mean get sick, Mr Surfer can take over.
But there’s only so much of steamed carrots and broccoli I can take.
Last Saturday night, it was just me and the twinions with Mr Surfer away for a “work function”. Dem de breaks.
Screw it if I was going to cook.
Hopping on to the Menulog website for some online food delivery, I browsed for Thai Takeaway and happily discovered that among the 696 restaurants listed, our favourite was there too!
Clicking on our order, I was pleasantly surprised to see that our particular restaurant offered a 10% discount for first time orders. Bring on the extra chicken wings!
Requested the earliest possible delivery time of 5:45pm, which was great because they didn’t officially open till 5:30 but were happy to receive orders 15 minutes in. SCORE!
Received a text message to confirm the order and delivery time. A welcoming sight for hungry tummies.
Bang on 5:55pm, a friendly delivery boy came with a huge bag of Thai food goodies and a free can of soft drink. Again, SCORE!
Forget the steamed carrots and broccoli.
With dad away on a Saturday night, there’s nothing better than having steamed carrots and broccoli replaced with scrumptious Thai food delivered right to the doorstep so we can enjoy a round of “How To Train Your Dragon”
All is right with the world.

Thanks, now I feel like Thai 😉 It sounds like a great service, especially with the early delivery! Our favourite take away is sushi. I pop down the road to our local haunt (we may or may not have ‘regular’ seats) and grab a few things to bring home on those nights when I can’t be bothered cooking and the boys are being too obnoxious to take them anywhere. Thankfully they are both big sushi lovers and are happy to chow down on their avocado rolls 🙂

Our favourite takeaway is Indian because the flavours and aroma are magnificent and everyone is satisfied (that’s a celebration in itself!). The little ones love many dishes, and don’t forget the naan bread, pappadums and accompaniments. My mouth is already watering! We also love that the Indian restaurants near us serve gluten free food which is essential when we are eating with our extended family.

I have heard of how useful and convenient Menulog is. If only they were available in my isolated country town!

You definitely can’t beat a good feed of Thai, Grace! I love this idea of home delivery, especially when it’s a cold night and your jammies are nice and cosy 🙂

Thai is actually quickly becoming a family favourite in our house too. It seems to have less MSG worries than Chinese. I can’t do MSG … makes me very ill.
I think Thai may now even override pizza as our number one go to ….

Oh takeaways how I adore you! So our favourite is pizza, boring cheese for kids, exotic for adults, because our fussy trio won’t try anything as tasty as curries, something the hubby and I get when the kids are fast asleep! As hot as they can come baby!

Sounds like a great service. Can you believe we have never done take out with the kids? I must be mad. It would be perfect for those nights when I couldn’t be bothered cooking.

Ordering a meal from an app……..THE BEST INVENTION EVER!!!!!
Pizza is always a favourite! Whether it be a lazy night in or a feed for a casual get together it always just hits the spot, not to mention the economical value. Oh and with everything from basic Hawaiian to Sangria Duck Ragu the range these days is VERY impressive!

Takeaway for us is only when we’re SO tired that we can’t even boil an egg for dinner… then healthy eating is abandoned and we love GOURMET PIZZA!
A couple of large ones have the added benefit of supplying leftovers for the next day (although only teenage boys could eat cold pizza for lunch!)

Every Friday is fish and chips night! Beauty these days is that there’s a big enough menu with options to suit everyone! Grilled instead of battered, salad instead of chips, barramundi instead of hake. On the odd Friday, there may even be a deep fried Mars Bar thrown in 😉

Our favourite Menulog Chinese restaurant, Lunch Whistle – the food is delicious & the whole family loves it, and their delivery man is the only person knocking on our door my dogs don’t bark at… maybe because they know he comes bearing complimentary prawn crackers!!!!!
