Well, what a social media merry go round it’s been for sexist scumbags!
Just as we’ve spectacularly booted Julien Blanc out of the country, in comes goofy, fuzzy haired, rapper Red Foo spreading his misogynistic message that girls are party killjoys.. if they refuse to get drunk or having sexual encounters being posted on social media.
Oh shit. When did women get so uptight?
So uptight that he has to tell them to “Shut The F*** Up”
Relax, people. It’s really quite okay, because apparently it’s satire.
Promoting sexual aggression and rape culture is…guess what? FUNNY!
Last week, I came across the Julien Blanc saga when randomly scrolling my Twitter feed and saw the change.org petition to cancel all his shows.
I signed with little hope it would account to anything.
Hello, to my delight, in less than 48 hours his visa was revoked and now the change.org quest continues to stop all his shows in the US.
Thanks to that one sign up, I get notifications about petitions trying to stop other douchebags who roam the interwebz flying the feral flag of sexual violence and rape culture.
While being constantly exposed to these updates make me uncomfortable and angry, I realize awareness is important and so is being proactive.
Simply, I don’t want my boys growing up in a society that teaches them to disrespect women.
And to take the words out of his own filthy song and turn them into a stance for gender equality, “Literally, I can’t… ignore this shit anymore”
Despite claims that his intentions were harmless and the song was just one big joke, I bet Red Foo’s havng the last laugh now, especially with the already 15,000+ signatures on the change.org petition for Channel 7 to sack him.
I’ve signed it.
They only need 9,000 more signatures (at last count).
X-Factor can always get another judge.

I am really sorry to hear about this. I had no idea. With four boys to raise I am with you all the way. There’s nothing funny about something like this. I will sign the petition later.
As for the other prick, I signed his travels away earlier too. We’ve got so far to go that it saddens me. X

I should sign that… God I am so glad that I had my misspent youth at a time with no cameras. I regret so many drunken encounters and would hate to have any reminders. Hello!! It’s ages since I linked up but got up super early and finished what I had to do – bonus! Not going to B Lunch today and will miss the socialising but have to work in my office job – gasp!

Cynically I think its a case of catastrophic miscalculation on Redfoos and his management’s part. The brain storming meeting probably went something like this. “How can we get the biggest social media exposure. Tits and arse just dont do it anymore”:
“I know lets annoy the feminists and it’ll go viral like ebola”
“Then we can say it was all a joke. It’ll be bros against hos man”.
It completely backfired on him. Meanwhile I saw Redfoo at Bondi a few months ago. He was wearing grey tracksuit pants and pulling along an old lady style wheeled shopping chart. Party rockin’ in da house!

Not heard the song, not watched the video because he’s an idiot and LMFAO were so lame anyway – I don’t get he makes any money at all. And don’t watch whatever show he’s on. I don’t get that people like that make so much money anyway – when really talented artists sit unnoticed. Guess he’s related to someone…Fefe, J.Cole all so much better and politically minded…
Anyhoo, what I LOVED with the Blanc fiasco was that when the protesters were yelling at them on the boat, the buddy giving the seminars says “they were threatening violence, it was really scary and that’s uncool” Really????? Isn’t that EXACTLY what your preaching??? Just not good for the gander, apparently…

What did I miss? I don’t know about this song? Was it on the X factor or something?
I will go to the link you posted about Blanc because I watched a video of him, that another blogger posted, and it made me so sick to my stomach I had tears in my eyes. He’s a sick bastard.

Signed it as soon as I heard about it. LMFAO had misogynistic lyrics too so I’ve never been a fan of Redfoo and never understood why he was hired as a judge in the first place. To think he attacked Dannii earlier this year for using sexiness to make her career! Hypocrite!

Yep, if we have any hope of educating our sons society needs to have a no tolerance policy for this behaviour.
I suspect Red Foo is on enjoying his last few days here in Australia. Once a reputation has been damaged here it’s over. I can’t see how Chanel 7 would consider renewing his contract.

I added my signature and there was just over 6000 more needed. It’s kind of sad that a man who has direct influence through x Factor to so many teens thought that this would be funny. It worries me, with two young daughters, what the music industry has become. I remember when people were fully dressed in music videos(except for that time John Taylor had no shirt on), and not flaunting all their bits on screen. The Foo can go get Fooked. Not someone I want my kids looking up to.

Kylie Purtell - A Study in Contradictions says
It’s such a fecking joke isn’t it. I totally get satire, and I think done well and somewhat sensitively (sensitive satire, is that an oxymoron?) you can satirise just about anything. But Red Foo does not strike me as being smart enough to really get satire and how to use it properly.
What really pisses me of about this shit, aside from the disgusting misogyny, is the fact that these days, if people do something offensive, they turn around and say “Oh but it’s satire” when it’s clearly not, as if that makes it ok for being an offensive prick. The satire excuse has become the go-to for pieces of shit the world over and it pisses me off, because real satire makes a point and is an incredibly clever and effective tool for making people think and helping to present the absurdity of social & cultural injustices.
No Red Foo, your song is not satire. It’s pure shit, plain and simple, and trying to call it satire doesn’t change that, it just makes you look even more of a fool!
