It was a rare afternoon where both parents were around for daycare pick up.
Walking into the jungle of noisy kids and strewn toys, I spotted one of my boys .
K-Bear was in his usual spot at the train track table.
Scanning the room, Mr Surfer pointed to Nunu who appeared to be in mid-embrace with…a girl.
“Naw, cute!” I thought.
Trying to round them up (yes, very much like sheep), I noticed the little girl in question was not quite done with the affection. She wanted more.
Before I could fully comprehend what was going on, there was a little chase with her arms wide open…reaching for my son.
My. Son.
In a split second, I witness the pair leaning in, puckering their lips and ….
“Nooooooo!!!!”
Mortified, I froze in time.
Right next to the mini trampoline, behind the red and yellow Little Tikes car.
Funnily, we had always joked that out of the twinions, Nunu would grow up to be the Casanova. But you know, in another ten years! At least!
Let’s just get to kindergarten first!
The drive home was not short of proclamations of adoration.
“I love her, Mama. I LOVE her! She is my girlfriend”
Whoa there, Romeo!
Just last week I was his one and only Princess Arthur.
Luckily, a son’s love for his mother is far more endearing. (Or am I just in denial?)
What definitely rings true is that a burning infatuation ends as quickly as it begins.
In three short days, I asked Nunu how his lady love was.
“Oh, I didn’t play with her today, Mama.”
He’s switched girls. This new girlfriend plays cars with him.
K-Bear in the meantime has no interest whatsoever. For him, it’s still all about trains.
Thank goodness.
Do you have a kissy kissy preschooler in your midst? Do you remember your very first? Can I ever reclaim my noble title as Princess Arthur?

Ahhh! LOL.
I remember when my then four year old son was kissed by an eight year old girl! ON THE LIPS! She just charged him down and grabbed him. I was mortified. Mortified! So was her mother. It was a weird glimpse into the future. It’s funny how even in the innocence of youth we still see flashes of future and it doesn’t always feel so good.

I can actually recall my own first kiss – it was kindergarten and Paul and I walked around with our pinkies linked all day and then a little peck as I was leaving. Ah love…
Bec @ The Plumbette says
I remember my first kiss as a teenager and it’s not one I would want to remember or relive however my first kiss with Jacob was perfect. I haven’t seen any kissing activity from Esther but she has told a boy at Kindy that she’s going to marry him!

Too cute!! One of my kids had a wedding ceremony at daycare- I only found out because one of the wannabe brides told her mum in devastation that the other girl had married him. My boy seemed unimpressed with the whole fiasco, but went along with it…HA!

Adorable. My ladies man has’t started with the kissy face kiddy crushes yet because he’s always falling for older women. His first really big crush (he actually proposed) was on a 23-year old and his current “true love” is Lorraine from Not Quite Nigella. LOL x

Don’t worry Grace, you’ll always be his Princess Arthur.
My very first boyfriend in Grade 1 gave me a blue plastic mermaid ring. That boy knew how to play the game lol.
I love how they move on so quickly, without even a backward glance xx

Jess that is so cute, they do start young with the kissing but as you say quite short lived which is very reassuring. Me being the major germaphobe that I am, I’ve told our kidlets a peck on the cheek is fine but nothing more.
Enjoy watching your little boys grow. Love your insights.
Have a great weekend xxxx

My 3 yr old Little Miss has TWO boyfriends at her kindy – but they go on different days so no chance of crossing over 😉 The other day my husband went to pick her up and this tiny little boy yelled out to him “Excuse me Lucy’s dad! Lucy and I are IN LOVE!”, and then quickly ran away… Mr McD was pretty shocked!
Although things seem to have quietened down a bit since the boys discovered Ninja Turtles…

That’s adorable! I remember the last day of preschool for my first daughter, she was crash tackled by a gorgeous little guy who gave her a smacking big kiss and told her that her hair was glorious. I kid you not- glorious! His mum and I stood there in shock while they giggled and hugged. Too cute!
Toni @ Finding Myself Young says
Bahaha bub is not even two yet and she’s the only girl in mothers group with 6 other boys – she’d kissed half of them before she was even one. And I don’t mean by accident I mean walking up to each other hugging and kissing on the lips. She has one favourite though that she always kisses and cuddles. We’re screwed when she’s a teenager.

How adorable. Not sure how I would have reacted if it was one of my girls. I remember back to when my eldest was in kindy and she came home wearing a ring. Engaged to the baddest boy in the class at just 5. I did eventually see the funny side.

Haha, so cute! When my boy started day care there were lots of girls who he would play with and I sometimes saw them holding hands with him but this year most went off to school or changed centres and now he’s part of a huge group of busy boof-head boys. Sometimes I kind of miss what the girls brought to the group!!
