This post is brought to you by iframes. All opinions and cool shades are my own.
Right up there among the essentials in my Mama handbag, you will find anti-bacterial hand gel, a couple of estranged Thomas Train engines, an unloved T-Rex toy and of course, sunglasses.
I don’t know about you but I can’t leave the house without them.
Otherwise, the morning sun glare turns me into a vampire and I quietly shrink into the shadows.
Sometimes, my make-up free face just doesn’t want to deal with the fact that, well…it’s naked.
Those are the days I’ve lived on 3 hours sleep, fighting a stubborn twitch in my left eye as a result and I’m desperate to get a caffeine fix from my local dealer, er…I mean barista.
It’s another one of those luxuries I’ve sacrificed since having children – the proud possession of designer sunglasses.
Way back before twinions, I would pop on a pair of Ray Ban aviators.
And while yes, admittedly I may own lots of pairs now, none of them are worth a cent more than $10.
I’ve lost count how many times Mr Surfer have pinched a pair of mine (forgetting his own were sitting on his head). Subsequently, he sat on them.
Those trying moments when they’ve been whipped off my face, smashed on the shopping mall floor thanks to a wrestling toddler in mid tantrum.
I’m not ashamed of my countless collection of the cheap kind.
When your hair is constantly disheveled and your tired face is forever flustered, quick and immediate access to a pair of big, dark sunglasses will fix any dire situation.
Although, now I’m a working Mama and always on the road, maybe it’s time to treat myself to something classy.
Like some funky Prada sunglasses.
I know there are many who think online shopping is a risky affair.
The team at iframes provides a great range of current styles of eyewear from authentic brands with free delivery.
Even if you don’t like how they sit, you can return them – item and packaging in original condition – within 100 days of purchase.
Five years ago when I was too busy holding a babe in each arm, fashion was the last thing furthest on my mind.
Now though, the twinions are a little older and life seems to be a little (dare I say, touch wood) calmer, the future’s getting brighter.
I gotta wear shades.
Do you own a favourite pair of sunnies? When was the last time you lost them? Did you find them on your head?

I’m a sunglasses snob, as worked in a sunglasses shop to help pay for drinking money at uni. Right now I own a pair of Pradas, Ray Ban, Oakleys, Von Zipper and Gucci! It’s something I can’t skimp on! x

You extensive sunglasses collection has not escaped my attention – it’s hard to remember you wearing the same pair twice! I’ve had a pair of Raybans that we bought on honeymoon in Miami eight years ago. I am terrified of losing them (and/or sitting on them) not just because I love them so but because of the sentimental value. I’m pleased I’m not the only one who tries looking for sunglasses when they are on one’s head! Doh!

I love a good pair of frames. You’re right, now that the kids are older and less likely to rip them off our face, we need to indulge in better quality frames! They last longer and give better eye protection.. which is really what we are after. It’s just as important as putting on sunblock!

I have just gone from cheap and cheerful to expensive sunnies and it is killing me. I am paranoid about losing them and feel anxious about where they are at all times! They are currently MIA because I was between three cars this week and think they are in the case in a car I do not have with me! So I had to buy a cheap and cheerful pair for the weekend and they are great! As long as I can see – they are working for me! Mel xx
